Our Fort Knox, Gold Vault, Gold Bullion and Warden Placer Claims are located on Wards Creek, in the Genesee Gold Mining District. This district is located in the southeast end of the Crescent Mills-Taylorsville-Genesee gold belt of Plumas County. The gold belts are not made of a single belt, rather several belts or zones of gold and copper mineralization. Gold was first placer-mined in this district during the gold rush and lode mining began soon after. Gold and copper prospecting still continues today in this district.
Geology- This area is underlain by Paleozoic and Mesozoic metamorphic rocks. The gold ore deposits consist of either quartz veins or zones of quartz stringers that contain free gold, limonite and sulfides, and a number of high grade pockets have been found. There are also a number of auriferous Tertiary gravels.
