There is a substantial opportunity for significant gold recovery based upon historic information and the amount of gold-bearing gravels. The Forman's Gold #1 and Forman's Gold #2 claims secure the lower portion of the valley at the transition from bedrock to valley fill. This is typical where the gold deposits. The Jackpot #1 and #2 claims secure the upper reaches of the valley just below the infamous Tertiary Jura Formation, rich gravel deposits. Remnant terrace deposits are chalked full of gold and the idea is to test the basal section with test pits. While dredging and metal detecting is spectacular, the big score is in the older gravels that surround the stream.

The road is good and the entire length of the valley can be accessed by 2wd. The idea for the claim block is the lower claims are used as stagging areas because there are wide areas for RVs or fifth-wheels. A small two-track access road on the south side of the valley services a secluded area where your staging area could be located.

These claims are well suited for a small trommel fed by a backhoe. There is plenty of water at the lower claims to run the processing plant all year. Water becomes low in the upper claims late in the season and the targets here would have to be attacked early or mid season. Mining level: Recreational to advanced.
