Granite Basin is one of the most beautiful places in the Northern Sierra. Lush forests, sparkling creeks and the salt and pepper granite outcrops that are legendary. Boulder Creek is one of the main creeks that drains the Tertiary gravel deposits that cap the mountains of the area. The gold is bright and there is plenty of it! Our Granite Boulder #2 placer mining claim secures a long section of the drainage just down from the Tertiary gravel outcrops. The attributes of the claim are:

  • Excellent camping on the claim.
  • 2wd access. Excellent quad/motorcycle trails in area.
  • Easy access to creek.
  • Local gravels on bedrock.
  • Large gravel bars and several bends of the creek.
  • Some remnant terraces.
  • Tree roots & grass clumps, downed trees, logs, etc.
  • Medium to shallow water.
  • Mining level: Recreational to intermediate.
  • Quiet and safe area; very beautiful. Large granite boulders.
  • Great fishing and nearby boating.
  • Children and senior friendly - fun for all!
  • Nearest town Bucks Lake (few amenities but cute).
The creek runs all year. These pictures were taken in October and show a pretty good flow even then. There are a number of gravel bars, pools and ledges that will provide many opportunities.

High bankers will have a field day with all the opportunities adjacent to the creek. We used a 2-1/2" Proline high-banker and had excellent success. The pools are relatively shallow and air is not required to reach the bedrock. Hence, the prospecting skills required are recreation to intermediate. Advanced miners who like to tackle the smaller creeks will equally enjoy this claim's abundant opportunities.

There is good access to the creek at many locations, and a road crossing the creek at the northern boundary of the claim. An access road brings you onto the claim at the southern end where there is an excellent creekside camp site.

Miners and prospectors will have a life-time of opportunities before this claim is played out. Bucks Lake is a major alpine recreational area and is only a few miles away. There is a convenience store, gas station, restaurant and pub. Bucks Lake is legendary for its fishing! This spot is one of a kind and you will want to add this claim to your portfolio.
